This is a long overdue blog post!! Late this summer I tagged along on an Arkansas
road trip with my friend Rachel, a blogger for Explore My State. We drove the beautiful Pig Trail back roads
to Oark, Arkansas, a small town nestled in the heart of the Ozark National
Forest. It’s a popular destination for
bikers cruising the Pig Trail. Don’t be
surprised if you run into leathered, tatted up bikers while you’re there.
We stuffed our bellies on cheeseburgers (the perfect
hike food haha) before a hike to the Glory Falls, which is only a few minutes’
drive from the café. It was a calorie burning hike with a wee bit of
climbing involved near the Falls but that made it all the more fun. The falls are very unique in that it’s a waterfall
literally carved into hole of a bluff after years upon years of erosion, you can
hike in toward the height of the falls where you'll see the hole that water passes through, then several yards away you can climb down the bluff where the waterfall pours out of the opening above you.
I really want to go back during the spring to see an
amplified version of the Glory Falls. I
would definitely recommend this hike after a moderate to heavy rainfall for anyone who is wanting to get away from the
hustle bustle of every day life. It's a great get-away.
